Hello Aunt Carol
Hope you and the puppies are all doing well.  I'm doing Great!
Thank you so much for taking such good care of me when I was a baby, and finding me such a nice Mom & Dad.  I've been spending most of my time playing with my toys and sitting on laps.  What a nice life I have!
I thought you might want to see what I look like, so I've sent you my picture.  Dad just gave me a bath and a trim:

Thanks again for all you did for me.  Maybe I'll see you again over the summer.

Love and puppy kisses,

Subj:  Re: shampoo offer

Hello Carol,

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner... needless to say, I've been busier than usual.  Ceilie has me "well-trained" and hopping!!  I am so delighted with her!  She has been a success, and I am already handing out your [business] cards.  Thank you!

You offered to show me how to shampoo her, and... both my friend Emily and I... would like to come up, but this week is a bit too full.  Can we postpone til next week please?  The pup is still quite clean, but I'm sure you can give me some more tips in raising her, and I would appreciate that so much.

My vet was totally thrilled with her, as was his whole staff.  And everyone she has met at the market on the two Saturdays I've brought her there.  She's quite a draw, and completely well behaved.  Sleeping at my feet under the desk at the moment now.

Hope all is well with you.  Many thanks again,
Carol

Subj:  Update on Pippin (Foster's "Little Brudder")

Hi Carol  -

Just wanted to let you know how well Pippin is doing.  Of course, you're welcome to use my email as a testimonial.  That is interesting of the feedback you receive from owners of the larger Cockapoo pups.  I may sound like I'm making it up, or just "exaggerating" - but I promise I'm not.  Pip is gentle, so gentle... calm (well.… ok, other than the occasional "puppy wild streak", running about the house), but besides that. )  He is simply a cuddle bear, always wants to be around with, etc., but also very" comfortable" with others, almost wants to be a comfort, "seeking it out" in a way.  He's sort of like that.  Just gets the idea that humans really like calm and sweet and gentle, and so that's the way he rolls.  Pippin is a JOY - so fun, such a great [further] addition to our home.  Foster is "ok" with it.  He's a bit of a "curmudgeon" at times, but he truly enjoys playing with Pippin (despite what his occasional growls might suggest.)  I honestly think Foster is in even better condition now since we got Pippin, and has a bit more "spring" in his step:

Pip' is just amazing.  Thank you for picking him out for us!  He passed his "STAR puppy" test yesterday - I honestly didn't intend to get him into that program, but the "basics" class that I wanted was full, and he still qualified as a puppy for the program - so, I did it.  No regrets, as he passed with flying colors!

Although this sounds a bit silly, he has the funniest "trait" - not sure if Emma [his mother] does this, but he uses his paws (actually, his whole front leg and paw) to "emphasize" something.  He lays his paw on your arm or leg if you're sitting down, like "Hey, I'm here" or "Pay attention to me!" or even "Good morning!  Wake up!"  He'll do this over and over in a playful way - reminds me of the cats I've had over the years.  It's more of a feline trait to me.  He doesn't do it all the time, but clearly when he wants to "get a message across" (...or so it seems to a human.)

So, all in all… it's really great!!  Yes, it was a bit of a "tall order" at first.  The first few weeks after bringing Pippin home were really hard… no lie there, but… it wasn't Pippin!!  It was the interaction between Pip' and Foster that made it so hard!  However, over time, things got better… much better!  Foster is still a tough one at times, though.  He can be SO damn "set in his ways"... and stubborn!!  He is like the "puppy police" - barking at Pippin for seemingly no reason.  Yet Pippin just rolls along - no worries for him!  All good though.  My next big wish is to be able to walk them both at the same time.  NO GO right now - no WAY can I do that!!  I wish!!!  They just "go at it"… Pippin wants to play, while Foster just gets his back up and growls at him.  Some day, though... I'll simply keep working on it!

Anyway, just wanted to let you know how well Pippin's progressing, and... to thank you!!  Another AWESOME Cockapoo!!  He really is a beautiful dog - so many compliments from folks all the time on his coloring, his size, his demeanor.

Hope all is well with you.  Take care...

Subj:  Casey Green, one of your Cockapoos

Hi Carol:

I thought you might enjoy seeing this Facebook post from the Good Dog Foundation.  We got Casey from you just about 13 years ago, in April and she is a fabulous dog.  She's on your Alumni Page too.  Our other [Mulberry Farm] Cockapoo, Dexter (5½), is also a therapy dog, but with a different organization :

Carol I enjoyed our visit the other day.  Thank you for showing me your puppies.  Every one needs to know how much you love and care about each one of your dogs.  When we bought Bailey from you 14 years ago, he was the greatest gift Jimmy could have given me.  Bailey is in "Rainbow Heaven" now.  Your dogs are so loveable and adorable! Tiny Heart

Subj:  PEETIE - the puppy we bought from you in March 2014

Dear Carol,

We hope that you and your family are well. PEETIE (photo enclosed) is doing great - a wonderful dog and part of our family.  He has a great home, lots of room to run and play and lots of other dogs in the neighborhood.  Of all of the dogs we know, PEETIE is by far the best - always a pleasure to be around, fun, curious and smart, a fast-learner, and he is gentle and mellow when that is needed.  He is trained well, and we are very comfortable with him in the house.  Frankly, we cannot imagine a better dog in the world for our family.  We all look forward to coming home to see him whenever we are out.  We just wanted you to know that we appreciate how much goes into breeding a dog like PEETIE, and how grateful we are to you that he is with us.

We have also started to think about a second dog - a friend for PEETIE, and another addition to our family.  The last time we spoke, you told me to send you a note expressing our interest in a second dog, and that you would add our name to your mailing list, to let us know when a new litter is born, and when a new dog might be available.  Would you please add me to your mailing list for new dogs?

With our warmest regards.  Thank you!

Subj:  Re: female apricot color cockapoo?

Hi, Carol... thanks for writing back.
First of all, we got our Schnoodle "puppy", Colby, from you almost eight years ago, and she is the best gift that just keeps on giving!  See the attached photo.  She is simply the BEST! :

   Colby Sherman
at 7 years of age
Now... we would like to get a female apricot-color Cockapoo.  Do you know when any will be available?  Can we get on a "waiting list", even if it is a few months out?
Will stay in touch.

Subj:  Rosie Merk Update

Hi Carol -

Summer is here and we are having such a fun time with our puppy, Rosie.  She's such a love, and really a wonderful dog.  She is pretty much fully housebroken, with the very occasional accident usually right by the door, loves to have her belly rubbed, is learning to "Sit", "Come", "Stay", "Down" like the smart pup that she is, and even went in swimming this weekend!  While we were on the beach... you won't believe... we met another dog from Mulberry Farm!  His name is Buddy, and we met his owner Bev with him.  This is on a small beach in an even smaller town on the coast of Massachusetts.  What a coincidence!  Neither of us had a smartphone with us at the time, so we couldn't take a picture of the two pups together, but we will next time as we are both there often and will send it along to you.

I'm attaching a picture of Rosie on the front porch of the beach house.  She LOVES having the wind blow her ears while she sits with us.  I thought you would get a kick out of your dogs meeting one another, and wanted to share how great Rosie is doing overall.

I hope all is well and you are enjoying the beautiful weather we have been having and staying busy with the other puppies.

Best,
Amy Merk

Subj:  Baxter turns 10 today

Dear Carol,
Our wonderful Baxter turns 10 today, so it seems like the right time to thank you for the love and joy he has brought to our lives.  Our sons have grown up and moved away... I have retired from part-time work at Vassar College, and my husband still works full-time at Sharon Hospital.  Having Baxter here with me as my companion... getting me up and out every day... has saved my sanity!  He's loved by all who meet him with his friendly, smiling face and loving disposition.  What everyone always comments on is his wonderful, big brown eyes:  He makes great eye contact, which I've read is the "canine equivalent" of a hug.  Everyone at our vet just loves it when he comes for a visit.  After years as a therapy dog, he's gone into "retirement" with me.  He's still fit and trim, lively as ever and incredibly loving.  A few weeks ago, someone who met him at our house remarked, "He's awfully well-behaved for a puppy!" :
If you've ever doubted your contribution to the world, Carol, take it from me that your dogs bring more happiness to thelives of their owners than you can imagine.  We even once met another cockapoo of yours on a beach at Block Island, owned by a family in Providence, RI and was unmistakably a Mulberry Farm cockapoo.  The owners, of course, agreed with us.
Best wishes,
Katherine (Kathy) Holden Jaffe

Subj:  [American_Cockapoo] Agility Weekend

This weekend was my dog club's [A.K.C.'s] agility trial.  My girls had a very good weekend.  Miss Allie was my "little Rock Star" by qualifying six out of six runs.  Mandy did very nicely too!  She is my "agility late bloomer".  She did qualify in two runs over the weekend, earning her AKC AX title on Friday.
